Monsanto gives away Maxxum 140 CAB (104 kW) tractor at gala evening

March, 2009 - The 50 finalists of the DEKALB-tractor competition and other guest from the agricultural paternity attended a gala evening at Kievits Kroon outside Pretoria on Friday 13 March to find out who the winners of the three tractors would be.

The tractor competition started on 1 January 2008 and ended on 31 December 2008 and the clients who qualified had the opportunity to win one of three Case tractors.  These were the CASE-IH Maxxum 110 CAB (82 kW), the Maxxum 125 CAB (93 kW) and the Maxxum 140 CAB (104 kW).

The draw was audited by the firm Deloite and Touche.

The winners were:
CASE-IH Maxxum 110 CAB (82 kW)  Mr  Danie Strydom from the farm Welgevonden near Barberspan,
Maxxum 125 CAB (93 kW) Mr Riaan Taljaard from the Klipdal-farm near Grootpan and then winner of the biggest tractor,
the Maxxum 140 CAB (104 kW) Dr  Piet van Wyk from the farm, Bloemskraal near Ventersburg. 

Mr Chris Rossouw, former Springbok rugby player, and also one of the prominent farmers in South Africa, handled the draw with Mr Kobus Lindeque, MD Monsanto. There were more than 9 000 entries into the first draw.
