18 August 2010   No Delta18RF (Roundup Ready Flex) available for the coming planting season – There will be no Delta18RF (Roundup Ready Flex) cotton available in the market for the coming planting season.  Monsanto DeltaPine will not make any seed available as quality tests indicated that the quality of the seed does not adhere to the stringent quality requirements set by Monsanto.

June 2010   Pollination Variation Problem in Maize Solved – Research conducted during the past season, 2009/10, by representatives and agronomists of Monsanto into pollination variations in experienced last season proved beyond doubt that the pollination variations was a genetic deviation that occurred when the parent lines were reversed. The problem has been solved and seed of the DKC78-45BR, one of the most popular cultivars on the market, will again be available for the 2010/2011 season.

October, 2008   Maize producers to prepare themselves for farm inspections – Crop biotechnology brought a new dimension into grain production. Gene characteristics such as herbicide resistance or Roundup Ready® crops, stalk borer protection or YieldGard®-crops, have been available over the past couple of years in South Africa in crops such as cotton, soya beans and maize. This technology does not only increase yields, but also gives the producer added benefits with regard to management and environmental practices.

November, 2003   Not only is efficacy important when looking at herbicides, but one must also ask how safe it is for the crop. The past season was characterized by low grain prices and it became very clear that it would be fatal to plant maize if the true potential of the soil and the hybrid can't be reached.
